A scary situation could have been much worse on Sunday when a young man accidentally shot his younger brother in the back with a bow and arrow. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, a 15-year-old young man was shooting target practice with his bow and arrow on property up Dry Fork Canyon when he decided he wanted to see how far he could shoot the arrow. In what appears to be a case of bad timing, shares the Sheriff’s Office, the young man shot the arrow the same moment that his 10-year-old brother ran out of a corral area and the arrow struck the 10-year-old in the back. The injury was significant, barely missing the child’s spinal cord, but he was treated at the hospital and will be okay. “This is an example of the importance of being aware of surroundings with any kind of weapon,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Be aware of what is behind and in front of your target. Always be aware and safe while target shooting.”
