Future Considered for BTA in Uintah County

Uintah County and local city officials met
Monday afternoon
with the future of the BTA, the Basin Transit Authority, among the agenda items discussed. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion says Vernal City clearly requested that the Uintah Transportation Special Service District be the funding agency for BTA in Uintah County. No decisions were made and no vote was taken during the meeting. The future of BTA has been unclear since Proposition 5 failed during November’s election with 41.15 percent of Uintah County voters casting ballots FOR the transportation tax that would have helped fund the bus transit system and 58.85 percent voting against the tax. While this topic is not included on the agenda, the Transportation District does have consideration of their 2018 budget on their Thursday meeting agenda.
