BLM Urges All to Be Safe and Responsible When Shooting Outdoors

The Bureau of Land Management is reminding all to be safe and responsible stewards of the land if you choose to enjoy target and recreational shooting outdoors as the weather warms up. The following guidelines are for all to follow: Only shoot in safe areas. Know your target and beyond! Pay attention to closed shooting areas. Areas closed to shooting will be well marked with signs. Please pick up your ammunition casings and brass. Leaving them behind is littering! Please pick up your targets. BLM lands are not trash dumps. Do not shoot in or around dry grass. Many wildfires start each year due to sparks from metal ammunition. Remember that the use of exploding targets is illegal as it is a recipe for starting a wildfire. According to the BLM reminder, there are many shooting areas where people are leaving garbage, targets, casings, and a big mess behind after enjoying some time shooting. Please do your part and always clean up after yourself. For more information, visit www.blm.gov
