BLM Seeking Public Input about McCoy Flats and the John Wesley Powell NCA

by | Aug 27, 2020 | News | 0 comments

The Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Mesa University is asking the public to take part in an online focused outreach meeting. They are asking local leaders, business owners, residents and visitors that participate in outdoor activities or care about the quality of the experience when recreating to take part, focusing on the McCoy Flats SRMA and John Wesley Powell NCA areas. The outreach efforts are gathering insight of the public’s perceptions to help develop the landscape as public outdoor recreation areas. These on-line “digital” focus groups will allow us to continue to collect information from the public about these landscapes despite current difficulties of travel restrictions and meeting face to face in larger groups. The meetings will be facilitated by Dr. Tim Casey, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Natural Resource Center at Colorado Mesa University. For information or a link to the focus group, contact Dr. Casey at nrc@coloradomesa.edu. The dates and times for the focus group are as follows: Friday, September 11th, 9am to 10:30am, Saturday, September 12th, 2020 9am to 10:30am, Thursday, September 17, 2020 7pm to 8:30pm, Friday, September 18th, 2020 2pm to 3:30pm, and on Saturday, September 19th there will be two sessions, one 9am to 10:30pm and another 7pm to 8:30pm.
