BLM Reminders for a Safe 4th of July While Recreating on Water

The 4th of July
holiday is a popular time to recreate on water each year and the Bureau of Land Management in Utah has some safety reminders for the public. First, beware that slow moving rivers may appear to be safe but can still have strong currents and undertows. Second, still bodies of water like the many beautiful lakes in the Uintah Basin can be dangerous. Do not swim into deep portions of the lake because it can take too long to return to shore if a problem arises. Whenever boating, stay close to the watercraft if choosing to stop and swim. Finally, fast moving rivers can result in losing one’s footing, even if the water isn’t deep. Have a great

holiday but remember to practice safety first!
