Bishop and Entire Utah House Delegation Votes Against Spending Package

A bill originally supported by Representative Rob Bishop received his vote Against it after major amendments were made. What ended up as a $1.3 trillion dollar omnibus spending package, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 was voted against by the rest of the Utah House delegation as well. “This bill finally begins rebuilding the military that has been significantly weakened over the last decade, which is good,” shares Bishop, “but the rest of the bill expands the role of government, costs too much money, and misses opportunities to help Utah. This happened because Senate Democrats vetoed good ideas and the rules of the Senate allowed that to happen,” continues Bishop. Going forward, Bishop says he will dedicate his efforts to reforming the process that produced what he calls this flawed product.
