Artists, businesses, and sponsors are being recruited for a special project meant to bring new life to downtown Vernal. It starts with local artists willing to submit their ideas for creative bench designs and is followed by businesses and sponsors partnering to make the benches a reality destined for downtown. “Vernal’s downtown has struggled over the past few years. There are many vacancies and not a lot of foot traffic,” shares Revitalization Committee member Pete Morphy. “If we can give people a reason to stop their cars and pull over and get out, they will spend money in our stores, use our ATMs, eat at our restaurants, and be more likely to stay another night in our hotels. If we can beautify downtown, even the locals will be more likely to want to walk downtown with their families and hear all the wonderful stories about Vernal from our parents and grandparents.” Morphy says they are looking for businesses to step up and do their part in helping Vernal succeed.
