Multiple Uintah Basin cities and agencies received awards at the 2018 Annual ‘Rural Water Association of Utah’ Conference held in St. George earlier this year. Simplot Phosphates took home the coveted trophy for ‘Best Water in Utah’. A panel of judges performed a blind taste test based on clarity, taste, and smell of water and Simplot was selected as the winner among many entries. They will accompany the Rural Water Delegation to the National Rural Water Taste Test finals in Washington DC in 2019. Upper Country Water in Duchesne County placed third in the water taste test competition. Several Uintah Basin agencies also won top honors at the conference. Duchesne City received the ‘Outstanding Wastewater Service to Customers’ award. Roosevelt City’s Brian Chipman received the ‘Outstanding Service by a Wastewater Operator’ award. Ashley Valley Water & Sewer Improvement District received the ‘Most Improved Water System’ award and Vernal City received the ‘Most Improved Wastewater System’ award. . “The recognition represents a strong commitment by the City Council and staff to improve the City’s sanitary sewer system over the years,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. “The system is in sound condition with limited infiltration.” Congratulations to all the local winners for providing the Basin with excellent service and quality.
