Construction in the Uintah Basin has inspired UDOT to remind drivers to make safety the top priority while on the roads. Last year in Utah, there were 3,329 crashes in work zones, a 10 percent increase in the past five years.

The U.S. Department of Energy announced Thursday that they have awarded $19 million dollars for 13 projects aimed at assisting clean energy projects. Eastern Utah and its “Uinta Basin earth resources” is the focus of one of the 13 projects that, according to energy.gov, will “support production of rare earth elements and critical minerals vital to the manufacturing of batteries, magnets, and other components important to the clean energy economy.”

Senator Mike Lee continues to remain involved in pushing back against the Biden Administration’s oil and gas leasing moratorium.

Duchesne County has been bumped down on the COVID-19 Transmission Index. As of April 29th, Duchesne County has moved from the moderate to low transmission level. Uintah County remains at the moderate level and Daggett County remains at the low level.

The Golden Age Center is excited to announce that they will resume having lunch and other activities at their facility starting Monday, May 3rd under the guidelines from the Health Department and the CDC. According to a press release issued Thursday, the Golden Age Center is currently requiring patrons to provide proof of being fully vaccinated to enter their facility or provide a copy of their positive COVID-19 test that was taken within the last 90 days.

The Ute Tribe announced in a Wednesday press release that on April 21st and 22nd the Ute Indian Tribe hosted leadership from Cougar Den, a fuel distribution company owned and operated by members of the Yakama Nation in central Washington.

The Utah Wildlife Board approved a decrease in the number of general-season permits for the 2021 deer hunt during their Thursday meeting. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources biologists recommended the overall decrease in permit numbers to the Regional Advisory Councils and to the wildlife board.

While UDOT is asking all Utah drivers to exercise caution in construction work zones, they are calling out Uinta Basin residents in particular this construction season.

President Biden gave a joint speech in Congress on Thursday and representatives for northeastern Utah shared their reactions. “I sent President Biden a letter expressing my desire to put productivity over partisanship to deliver results for Utahns and Americans at large,” shared Congressman Blake Moore.
