Ashley Regional Medical Center: Protecting Family and Community From the Flu

by | Feb 6, 2018 | News | 0 comments

Ashley Regional Medical Center is offering tips for keeping families and the community as a whole healthy with flu season in full swing. First and foremost, Ashley Regional recommends getting vaccinated. “This is the best form of protection against the virus. While it is still possible to contract the flu after receiving a vaccination, it is much less likely,” shares the hospital’s announcement. “Furthermore, studies have shown that flu vaccinations can make your illness milder, if you do get sick. This year, the CDC recommends that all individuals get the flu shot, not the nasal spray vaccination.” Other preventative measures include washing hands regularly with soap and water, avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, disinfecting home and belongings, staying home when sick to prevent the spread of germs, and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing with a tissue. If you or a loved one begins to notice symptoms like coughing, sore throat, fever, or upper respiratory symptoms, please see your doctor right away. For more information on influenza, visit
