There is another fire that has been identified in the High Uintas Wilderness Area. It is called the Center Creek Trail fire and is located about 1-mile Northeast of Toquer Lake and 2.5 miles North of Center Park Trailhead. It was started by lighting on Tuesday and is currently thought to be about 20 acres in size. Jordan Joseph Flores, Ashley National Forest Fire Management Officer, stated that “the Center Creek Trail is under a suppression response. Due to hazardous conditions full perimeter control will not be possible where it is currently located. There is no imminent threat to any highly valued resource. Values at risk have been identified several miles from the fire and opportunities to engage the fire safely will be evaluated. The IC will work with the agency administrator and fire staff in order to find those opportunities. Other actions will be taken in order to keep the public safe. The forest will continually evaluate the fire’s potential, threat to values and risk to firefighters and the public safety in continued management of the fire.”
