AP&P Check Results In 7 New Felony Charges For Man In Uintah County

An Adult Probation and Parole visit resulted in 7 new felony charges for a man in Uintah
County. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 56-year-old Jeffrey Burgess was
on probation for drugs, theft, and a stolen vehicle charge and a house check revealed
firearms, drugs, and drug paraphernalia inside the residence on March 24th. The officer
report states that 3 rifles and 2 shotguns were found lying on the floor covered in dirt and
rust, a crossbow was on the couch, foil with burnt residue was sitting in multiple places,
and blue pills suspected to be Fentanyl were in a container on the table. Burgess allegedly
admitted that the firearms had been buried in an undisclosed location and he had
recovered them with the intent to clean them up and sell them for drugs. He also admitted
to using Fentanyl. He was arrested on 6 felony counts of Possession of a Firearm by a
Restricted Person, 1 felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and a
misdemeanor charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
