Another Bear Relocated From Uintah County Neighborhood

Another bear has been relocated from a Uintah County neighborhood. On Thursday, May 25th, the Division of Wildlife Resources received a call about a bear just outside Vernal City limits. DWR reported on Friday that “this two-year-old female bear was successfully and safely translocated to a site a few hours away from town, in hopes it will not come into contact with homes again.” People in and near the Mayfair Meadows neighborhood were surprised to see the visitor and happy to hear she was returned safely home. Everyone needs to be Bear Aware as black bears are coming out of hibernation. The likelihood of conflicts with bears increases when a bear’s normal food supply is decreased, leading them to seek alternate food sources. If a bear obtains food from a home or campsite even once it may become aggressive in future attempts. To protect both you and the bear, dispose of trash carefully and keep things very clean.
