A conference is being held this week in Vernal that aims to help some of the community’s most vulnerable members. The theme for the 2019 Annual Domestic Violence Conference is ‘Connecting the Dots Through Community Partnerships’ and like the conference does every year, those in attendance will be trained to better serve victims of domestic violence. “One of the main reasons we started doing this conference was to raise awareness of domestic violence but also to educate those who work with individuals impacted by domestic violence,” shares DCFS domestic violence program manager Desree Allred. “We aim to enhance the knowledge they already have, make improvements on the services we provide, and to bring different agencies together in order to network and help those served be more successful.” Over 100 professionals attend the conference each year including members of law enforcement, child family services, shelter staff, therapists, school personnel, medical professionals, and more. The conference also provides some professionals with certification hours as part of their continuing education. The conference is being held
