Give’M Health: Positive Ways to Promote Good Mental Health

May is mental health awareness month and TriCounty Health Department is educating the public and sharing positive ways to promote good mental health. Health Promotion Division Director Jake Isaacson explains that mental health refers to many things but boils down to how we get through the day and how we handle the things that happen in our life. Life happens, says Isaacson, and there is nothing wrong with reaching out to professionals, family, or clergy that could potentially help with what is going on and the thoughts that go along with it. TriCounty Health has shared information on their website including ways to address mental health issues. Some mental health issues are severe and help should be sought immediately such as in cases of major depression or suicidal thoughts. Some simple ways to improve mental health include sleep, exercise, getting out in the sun, interacting with family and friends, and eating well. To learn more, visit
