Colorado Road 139 between Rangely and Fruita was closed in both directions on Monday due to a serious head-on accident on Douglas Pass that started a brush fire. The Lower Valley Fire Protection District stated that the accident happened near Mile Marker 23 and that a brush fire resulted. There were multiple people in critical condition and, according to Colorado State Patrol, there was one fatality. As of Monday evening, Highway 139 remained closed.
