A repeat DUI offender who crashed a vehicle in Roosevelt was part of a plan to let the blame fall onto another person who had not even been in the vehicle at the time of the crash. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer responded to a call of a running vehicle that had wrecked off the road with the oil pan torn off by the terrain. A witness identified the driver, a white male, running from the car back to a home. The suspect then was observed getting into a white Jeep which pulled over by the wrecked suspect vehicle, where a female and the suspect began getting a baby seat, dog and other things out. They then left the area without notifying law enforcement of the accident. The officer located the white Jeep. The female told the officer that she was the one driving the crashed vehicle and would meet back at the accident. Only after some time did the female tell the officer that Devin Bennett was actually the one that had been driving and she was not in the car at the time of the accident. 21-year-old Devan Kenneth Franklin Bennett was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony DUI with 2 or more prior convictions and other misdemeanor offenses.
