AARP announced Wednesday nine recipients throughout Utah that will receive 2026 Community Challenge grants and two are going to an agency in Uintah County. Since its inception in 2017, the AARP Community Challenge has awarded $434,704 in 36 grants to entities across Utah. “This year, the Uintah Special Service District 1 received 2 grants totaling $17,500 dollars,” shares AARP Utah. “The funds will help install outdoor mobility and stretching stations along a popular community walking trail. The stations will help adults age 50-plus stretch, improve balance and walk more safely and with greater confidence. Three walk audits will also be performed to assess walking routes for residents aged 50+.” Nancy LeaMond, AARP Executive Vice President, says, “America is aging, and most older adults want to stay in the communities they know and love. There are a lot of things that localities can do to support residents of all ages. AARP Community Challenge grants help transform local ideas into real improvements.”
