A traffic stop in Duchesne County ended in arrest last week. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a traffic stop was initiated for a speed violation on SR-121 near 3880 North on June 11th around 6:55pm. The driver admitted his driver license was suspended, he didn’t have insurance, and he had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and an inventory found the open container of alcohol as well as an unmarked prescription bottle with methamphetamine, and a gatorade bottle with a drinkable amount of what was believed to be alcohol. A criminal history showed that the driver had two prior convictions for drugs in the past 7 years. 45-year-old Weldon James Raines was arrested and transported to the Duchesne County Jail for the possession of a controlled schedule I substance, drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle with an open container on the highway, driving on suspension, no insurance, and the speeding violation.
