Red Flag Warnings are in effect today for most of northeastern Utah and Western Colorado as hot, dry and windy conditions return to the region. The Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 1pm to 9pm on Friday due to gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels. While Colorado is widely affected, in Utah, the eastern Uinta Basin and Book Cliffs are specifically listed. Relative humidity is listed at 7 to 12 percent and fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can greatly contribute to extreme fire behavior. All are urged to observe fire bans and exercise extra care to prevent wildfires.
