Flash Floods Damage McCoy Flats

The Bureau of Land Management Utah announced that recent storms brought flash flooding through parts of the McCoy Flats area, causing washouts and damage near portions of the trail system. “County crews are currently working to repair affected roads,” shares the announcement. “The road near the McCoy Flats Trailhead is expected to be passable…but visitors should still use caution in the area. Additional damage may exist on nearby trails, washes and access roads that has not yet been identified. BLM staff are assessing conditions and will share updates as more information becomes available.” If you plan to visit McCoy Flats watch for washouts, soft shoulders and undercut road edges; do not drive or ride around damaged sections; check the weather before and during your trip; please consider holding off on riding bike trails until they have dried; and please give damaged areas space so crews can evaluate conditions and make repairs safely.
