A Uintah High School student artist continues to receive recognition for her work and was featured in a multi-state competition. Paisley Harlan’s painting, “The Warning,” was selected to represent the state of Utah in the ‘Celebrate the West’ art competition hosted by the Western Governors’ Association. “The Warning draws from a photograph my grandfather took in the western backcountry after tracking and treeing a mountain lion,” shares Paisley in the description of her painting. “Suspended between earth and sky, the lion holds its ground–not in defeat, but in defiance. Its gaze is steady, alert, and unmistakably clear: this is not surrender, but a boundary.” Learn more about the 2026 ‘Celebrate the West’ art competition at foundation.westgov.org.
