A Uintah County mother is facing a charge of 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Child Abuse after an allaged event at the family home that resulted in a 5-year-old child suffering a broken leg. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police were called to Ashley Regional Medical Center after a father and mother arrived with the child and told the staff that the child’s injury was caused by the mother kicking the child. The father told investigators that he heard a loud noise and went to investigate and found his wife kicking their 5-year-old. He told his wife he was going to call the police and take the child to the ER. She attempted to talk him out of calling the police but he told her no. The two of them then took the child to the ER. The mother told investigators that the child had hurt a younger sibling and she was so mad she began to kick the child and did not stop until her husband stopped her. The woman was arrested and ordered to be held without bail. Her identity has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
