A renewed search effort is underway for 70-year-old DeEtte Spencer who made stops in Vernal and Price before disappearing while driving home to southern Utah. The last known location of DeEtte Spencer was the Walmart in Price on January 26th. It was believed after leaving Walmart in Price, her plan was to head back home to Escalante in Garfield County. She was traveling in a cream colored Buick Lucerne car but was not seen again and a Silver Alert was issued. There was a break in the case on March 5th when a utility company employee spotted Spencer’s Buick Lucerne up Nine Mile Canyon on a dirt road. Search and Rescue teams searched the rugged terrain without success. The search has been renewed with the help of a private search organization called O-SAR Organized Search and Rescue. Family has confirmed that the search has transitioned to a recovery effort with their hope to bring Spencer home to be buried next to her late husband. The Silver Alert issued for DeEtte Spencer is still active and any tips can be shared with the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office at 435-636-3251.
