It was an inspiring night at the Uintah Basin Technical College Commencement Exercises on Thursday evening in the Union High School auditorium. The first speaker was UBTech Student of the Year Taylor Harrison who emphasized the ways graduates will serve their communities moving forward. “We learned by doing hands-on work,” said Harrison. “We learned how to build, repair, care for, create, and serve. We learned the skills necessary to keep communities, like our own, running and growing every single day.” The keynote speaker was Utah Petroleum Association President Rikki Hrenko-Browning, who congratulated the graduates on choosing a path of new opportunities focused on overcoming challenges. “You’ve proven to yourself the ability to do the hard work, to make the sacrifices, and to make your days better,” she shared. Finally, UBTech President/CEO Aaron K. Weight spoke on the theme of “Building Bridges, not Overpasses” before the students had their moments to be cheered on while crossing the stage to receive their diplomas.
