Uintah High School shared this week that a group of Uintah High students marked the culmination of two trimesters of hands-on learning when they released about 225 endangered razorback suckers into the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument.

“The students, who are in David Wilson’s aquaculture class, released the fish into the river at Split Mountain with the help of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources as part of the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program. Each fish, which can live for more than 40 years, was tagged by the students to allow biologists to collect critical data in the future.” This is the second year Mr. Wilson’s aquaculture class raised and released razorback suckers using hatchery equipment installed in the UHS Agricultural Sciences classroom building.
