A repeat DUI offender has new felony charges out of Uintah County. On April 16th, 48-year-old Alonzo Jim was arrested for failing to stop at command of a peace officer, interference with arresting officer, open container in vehicle, DUI with 2 or more prior convictions, driving on revoked license with qualifying circumstances, failure to install ignition interlock device, and alcohol restricted driver. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, this was in connection with a pursuit on February 14th that started in Naples City. “During the pursuit, he almost crashed off the side of the road multiple times and went into the opposing lane of traffic multiple times. During the pursuit, he reached speeds of 96 MPH but would slow down. The pursuit continued to about mile post 4.5 on SR45 before the vehicle made a quick turn around off the shoulder of the road, then continued to flee back North bound on SR45.” Eventually Jim stopped the vehicle, threw his keys onto the road, then shut his door and continued to refuse lawful commands but he and the passenger were eventually placed into handcuffs. Bureau of Indian Affairs officers responded as both were enrolled tribal members and took the men into their custody. Inside the vehicle, multiple open containers of alcohol were found. On April 16th, Alonzo Jim was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on charges which included the events of February 14th. Alonzo Jim has a prior DUI conviction in 2022 in Wyoming and in 2024 in Utah.
