The search continues for the bodies in a double homicide investigation out of Utah County and areas of Duchesne County are among the locations being searched. According to court documents, 28-year-old Matthew Jacob Leonard of Springville was arrested and is now charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Murder, 2 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Obstruction of Justice, and 2 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Abuse or Desecration of a Dead Body, in the deaths of Leonard’s mother, Sarah Johnson, and 50-year-old John Waldron Handricks. While the bodies of Johnson and Handricks have not been found yet, bullets were found lodged into the drywall in Leonard’s home and blood splatter led detectives to remove the baseboards and find separate pools of blood. Leonard had recently rented out the room that he told the renters had been his mother’s room. Among the data traced on Leonard’s phone was a trip he took to Duchesne County just a few days after the alleged killings where he spent about 16 hours in a remote area near Fruitland. No announcement has been made on any findings.
