Uintah County leadership is considering a request to fund a Bookmobile. Uintah County Library Director Karen England made a presentation to the Uintah County Commission during the April 1st Commission Work Session, requesting $400,000 of revitalization funds for the potential project. England shared that they have seen some growth with the Little Library Express that visits remote locations in Uintah and Daggett counties, bringing library services to those less able to visit the Uintah County Library. England shared that she believes a Bookmobile will serve needed community members, especially children and the elderly. She shared that the vehicle would be a Diesel Ford F550, or comparable brand, with an 18-foot purpose built library body that could hold a rotating collection of 3000 to 5000 books. Several in attendance at the meeting expressed concern over the $400,000 amount proposed to be drawn from revitalization funds. There were also comments that believe a Bookmobile is a good idea. The Commissioners asked questions and ultimately requested data on Bookmobiles in other Utah communities and the numbers of those using the current Little Library Express.
