The Spring Burn Window is approaching and TriCounty Health Department is urging citizens to follow the law. “You can only burn vegetation,” shares TriCounty Health. “Burning of solid waste is prohibited and can carry a fine of up to $25,000 dollars per day of violation. Solid waste is anything that is not vegetation. You cannot burn garbage in a burn barrel, dispose of debris at a construction site by burning, even if it is wood, or burn insulation off of wire for recycling. This is all solid waste.” The Spring Burn Window is March 30th through May 30th in Uintah County andApril 15th through May 15th in Duchesne County. No burn permit is required in the TriCounty region but municipalities often require a burn permit. You must notify dispatch before burning and the clearing index must be 500 feet.
