Wilson Fire North of Meeker and Deer Gulch Fire South of Meeker

The Wilson Fire located 9 miles north of Meeker had reinforcements show up Monday. A total of 146 people are now assigned to the incident including two Type 1 crews, two Type 2 crews, 5 engines, and a Type 1 and Type 3 helicopter. The fire started on Friday caused by lightning. It covers 300 acres and is 15 percent contained.  Crews put in a fireline that wraps around the northern end of the fire, extending down the eastern side. The Deer Gulch Fire started on Saturday about 20 miles south of Meeker. The fire was last reported at 10 percent contained. Drone use around fires has shut down operations on several fires throughout the west this season. Drones are not allowed around the fires to allow air operations to safely operate.
