Multiple individuals were recognized during the Uintah Basin Technical College board meeting held on Wednesday. Weslie Porter, Director of Energy Services, was presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Defense for outstanding service for his country, community and at UBTech. Porter was recently promoted to a Major in the United States Army. Representative Scott Chew and Representative Christine Watkins were each awarded the “Connectivity” award for supporting technical education in the Uintah Basin. Both representatives played an important role in securing funding for the new welding building that will break ground at UBTech next year. Finally, two students, Jamilyn Ward and Alec Foster, were awarded as the July and August Students of the Month.
