Locals have been stunned along with the rest of the nation since learning of the mass shooting in Las Vegas that has killed over 50 people and injured over 500 people. While it feels there is little that can be done to help, many locals took the opportunity to donate blood in an event held Monday at an LDS chapel on Aggie Blvd. Organized by the LDS group of young single adults and in conjunction with the American Red Cross, the drive is held every three months as the group’s service activity. “When we heard about the natural disasters around the country we tried to promote this event and ended up with more sign ups than in the past,” shares event coordinator Tanner Mills. “With [Sunday] night’s shooting, more people have been influenced and we are grateful this blood drive is serving a need.” The blood drive had over 40 people that showed up and 31 pints of whole blood and 3 pints of doubles were donated. Another opportunity to donate blood is being held today by the American Red Cross at TriCounty Health Department in Vernal
from 3 to 7pm
