This Veterans Day please take the time to give thanks to those serving and those that have served in protecting the freedoms of this country. Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT) offers the following thoughts: “It is important for us to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifice of our veterans. There are approximately 18.2 million veterans living in the United States today. We owe each and every one of these men and women a debt of gratitude for the sacrifices borne by them and their families. Today, active duty military members represent less than 1% of the population, yet secure the freedoms that all Americans hold so dear. “ He continues, “This Veterans Day holds special significance as we also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. My uncle fought and returned to Utah a better man. 17,361 brave Utahns endured the horrors of the Great War and hundreds never returned to their homes and families. Today, 100 years later, we honor their service as well as all Americans who have proudly worn the uniform. Thank you.” The Uintah Basin proudly has close to 3,000 veterans living in its boundaries. Be sure to seek one out and offer a sincere thank you.
