The decade long pursuit of the “Million Pipeline” continues to meet opposition. A proposal that was shut down to pipe water from the Green River to Colorado’s Front Range surfaced again last spring, proposing water be piped near Brown’s Park in Daggett County. Aaron Million is the Colorado business owner requesting that water in the Green River be piped to Colorado. The project would include hundreds of miles of buried pipeline to carry the water from the Green River to Pueblo, Colorado. Deseret News reports that the list of critics includes the water districts in Uintah County and Emery County, the Provo River Water Users Association, the Center for Biological Diversity and Trout Unlimited. The State of Utah Division of Natural Resources also submitted an official protest citing impacts to endangered fish and Utah water users. The Board of Water Resources recently met and held the first hearing on the application to divert the water. A long line of opposers attended and made their feelings known.
