It is strange to think about now but only two weeks ago members of Dinosaur National Monument and members of the National Park Service’s Exotic Plant Management Team were headed down the Green River on an expedition. Their goal? Believe it or not, it was to find, remove and treat the invasive non-native Russian olive trees along the Green River. Although there are non-native plants that have been introduced in different areas, some on purpose others by accident, unless they threaten the local plants they are left alone. The Russian olive tree, however, has taken over the habitat of other riverside trees and need to be removed.
