A fun and worthy fundraiser is taking place tonight in communities across the Uintah Basin. The KLiC & Drag Family Scavenger Hunt event starts at 6pm tonight on the Main Streets of Vernal, Roosevelt, Duchesne, Altamont, and Tabiona.
UDOT Highway 40 Strawberry Valley Update
Crews continue their work on Highway 40 in the Strawberry Valley. According to the latest UDOT update, crews have been working to level and prepare the roadway on the widened area between Mile Post 35 and 37. Traffic is shifted to the north side of the roadway with pilot car operations.
Big Hearts Unite in Cause for the ‘Uintah Basin Chicken Rescue’
Different causes prick at different hearts and for Amy Dotter of Vernal, and supporters that joined her along the way, hearing about the starving hens needing rehomed in West Valley City was a cause they couldn’t ignore. Amy did some research and while she wanted to help she didn’t feel comfortable getting hens directly from the egg farm.
Rollover Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured; Alcohol and Speed Believed Factors
A rollover crash left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital early Sunday morning south of Fort Duchesne. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Uintah County sheriff’s deputies and Bureau of Indian Affairs police officers were notified about the crash on 7000 South, several miles south of the Four Corners intersection, about 4:30 am on Sunday.
Five-Hour Rescue Operation Saves Utah Man Stranded on Cliff near Jones Hole
A five-hour rescue operation saved a Utah man who had become stranded on a cliff near Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery in Uintah County on Saturday. A news release from Uintah County Sheriff’s Office states that the rescue operation began when a group, which included a member of the Wasatch County Sheriff’s search and rescue team, camping near the hatchery heard someone calling for help.
Caution Urged as Flaming Gorge Dam Increasing Flows on Green River
The Bureau of Reclamation announced last week that they will be increasing flows from Flaming Gorge Dam on the Green River starting today, Tuesday, May 26th. As of May 20th, the Reservoir pool elevation was at 6,027 feet which is 87 percent of live storage.
Meet Stego Steve! The Vernal Chamber’s New Stegosaurus
The Vernal Chamber Foundation excitedly announced Friday that the name of their new stegosaurus in front of the Chamber Office is Stego Steve! The Vernal Chamber held a Dino Naming Contest. First place was awarded to Boston Foley for “Stego Steve”, second place to Jaxton Foley for “Plate-o the Stego”, and third place to Mia Harrison for “Herb, the Stegosaurus.”
