A rollover crash left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital early Sunday morning south of Fort Duchesne. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Uintah County sheriff’s deputies and Bureau of Indian Affairs police officers were notified about the crash on 7000 South, several miles south of the Four Corners intersection, about 4:30 am on Sunday. “Investigators believe the male driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, over-corrected and rolled the vehicle. The 30-year-old man and his 19-year-old female passenger were both ejected from the vehicle. The woman was able to walk to get help, then returned to the crash site and discovered that the driver was dead. Investigators believe alcohol use and speed were factors in the crash. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing seat belts. Instead, deputies said, the seat belts had been fastened and the driver and passenger were sitting on top of them at the time of the crash.”  The name of the driver has not been released and the woman was taken to Uintah Basin Medical Center.
