Vernal Theatre: LIVE’s Bye Bye Birdie a “Guaranteed Good Time”
If you talk to the cast and production team of Vernal Theatre: LIVE’s Bye Bye Birdie, opening tonight, about their experience with this show, there is one word that is likely to come up again and again: F-U-N, FUN! Bright costumes, 1950’s big hair, rolled up jeans, a crooning Elvis-type, and of course, screaming girls, women, and even a few men keep the show fun and the laughs coming. Local theatre veteran Amy Lemon plays the lead role of Rosie in the production, an experience she says has been among her favorite on the stage.
DEQ Offers Tips in Event of Runoff Flooding
Utah is in a very good position with the water supply forecast between 110 and 140 percent of the state’s average runoff. That is great to fill reservoirs but might be problematic for flooding. The Utah Department of Environmental Quality would like to give a couple tips to prepare residents for such an event.
Regional History Center Releases Book, Gilsonite Country
The hard working ladies of the Uintah County Regional History Center were on hand at the Uintah County Library on Tuesday night for their latest book signing event. Gilsonite Country was written by the Uintah County Regional History Center staff and features events, stories and experiences that the rare mineral gilsonite has had to the area.
MOCK Car Wreck Sends Clear Message to Students, Seatbelts Save Lives!
Watching a classmate carried away in a body bag leaves a serious impact. Thankfully, in this case, the experience was part of a MOCK car wreck aimed at showing Rangely Jr. and Sr. High School students that Seatbelts Save Lives! Student council members worked with the Colorado State Patrol, Rangely Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance, and Hospital to set up the realistic car wreck and scenario to act out the wreck’s aftermath in the front parking lot of the high school.
Fatal Highway 40 Crash Near Split Mountain Truck Center
A Colorado man has passed away after a two vehicle crash on Highway 40 near the Split Mountain Truck Center in Uintah County. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Sunday at Mile Post 152 on Highway 40 at 3:21pm. A 1993 blue Chevy pickup was traveling westbound while a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound.

Uintah County Library Invites Community to 111th Year Birthday Celebration
Uintah County Library is celebrating its 111th birthday and all are invited to come party with the staff and fellow patrons. It’s interesting to note that the Uintah County Library is a year older than Vernal City, which will celebrate its 110th year as a City in Utah in 2019.
Mesa County Predators Arrested After Sting
Ten individuals were arrested after an undercover internet sex predator operation that covered western Colorado. According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, the three day operation was a joint effort between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, working to locate child sex predators.
UDOT Issues Weather Warning
The Utah Department of Transportation has issued a weather warning for across the state saying that winter will be making its return as a strong spring storm will impact Utah roads through Thursday. The Wasatch Front mountains are expected to get snow and high caution is urged for those planning to travel Highway 40 west into Wasatch County.
