Fatal Highway 40 Crash Near Split Mountain Truck Center

A Colorado man has passed away after a two vehicle crash on Highway 40 near the Split Mountain Truck Center in Uintah County.  According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Sunday at Mile Post 152 on Highway 40
at 3:21pm
. A 1993 blue Chevy pickup was traveling westbound while a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound. “The Chevy made a southbound turn onto 4625 East, failing to yield to the Ford Focus, causing a collision,” shares the report. “The passenger of the Ford Focus, Mr. Curtis Gray, Age 71 of Fruita, Colorado, was extricated with a suspected broken hip and transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center. He was later transported to Salt Lake City via helicopter. During the flight, he succumbed to his injuries.” The driver of the Chevy pickup and the driver of the Ford Focus were both transported to the hospital. The driver of the Chevy had non-life threatening injuries while the driver of the Ford Focus was in serious, but stable, condition.
