2019 Northern Ute 4th of July Pow Wow Celebration Kicks Off Today

An exciting event each year, the Northern Ute 4th of July Pow Wow Celebration kicks off today in Fort Duchesne. Tonight is warm up night for the Pow Wow with competition each day that follows and major cash prizes in the drum and dance contests. The Pow Wow Celebration Parade will be held Saturday at 10am. There will be the Northern Ute Yellow Elk Memorial Handgame Tournaments in honor of the Sireech family. Bottle Hollow and Midview Reservoirs will have free fishing and swimming June 27th through July 1st. A Pow Wow Celebration fun run/walk will be held Saturday at 7am at the Bottle Hollow-Veterans Park. For those a little more serious about running, the Half Marathon is also Saturday with registration at 6am at the Painted Horse Building. The Pow Wow Princess Pageant is Friday morning at the Pow Wow grounds starting at 9am and the 20th annual All Indian Pow Wow Golf Tournaments running Friday through Sunday at the Roosevelt Golf Course. The annual four day Pow Wow draws visitors from far and wide.
