Three Girlfriends of Fugitive Also Charged in Domestic Dispute

The three girlfriends of a man arrested last week in Fruitland for firing shots during a domestic dispute have also been formally charged.  On August 30th, 44-year-old Dorothy Jo Smuin threatened to drive a pickup truck into a cabin if her boyfriend, 41-year-old Ronnie James Manzanares, didn’t tell her who was in the cabin with him, reports the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

The third and final of three suspects in a Vernal burglary that took place on August 21st has been arrested. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Joseph Moralez was arrested in Colorado on Friday

Last Day for Arguments For and Against Proposition 5 in Uintah County

Today is the last day to submit arguments For or Against Proposition 5, a local sales tax option that will be included on the November Uintah County ballot. The Proposition asks voters to decide if Uintah County shall be authorized to impose a quarter of one percent sales tax which is the equivalent of 1 cent for every $4 dollars spent for the purpose of transportation services such as roads, traffic, pedestrian safety, public transit and non-motorized transportation

Salt Lake Man Arrested in Uintah County for Kidnapping

A Salt Lake man was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on Monday for kidnapping following an incident that began in Salt Lake City and ended in Tridell. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Central Dispatch began receiving calls early in the afternoon on Labor Day from a female that sounded in distress but the woman would hang up before information could be gathered.

Suicide is a serious problem in Utah and unfortunately the Uintah Basin has had a surge in suicides and is among the highest in the state. In the state of Utah there is an average of 10 suicides a week and the data shows that since 2016, it is the leading cause of death in children ages 10 to 17 in the state.
