State fire restrictions are to be taken seriously and local citations have been given out. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond reports that, as an example, on Saturday alone multiple fires were started and several citations were issued.

Wilson Fire North of Meeker and Deer Gulch Fire South of Meeker
The Wilson Fire located 9 miles north of Meeker had reinforcements show up Monday. A total of 146 people are now assigned to the incident including two Type 1 crews, two Type 2 crews, 5 engines, and a Type 1 and Type 3 helicopter.
Vernal’s 4th of July Parade Keeps Patriotic Focus
As is true every year, the Vernal Chamber’s 4th of July Parade spread patriotism and excitement. The Terra Academy float won the Most Patriotic award. The Bailey Family’s float, A Time to Be Proud, was awarded the Best Flag Display. Dinosaur Expeditions float, Sharing America’s Rivers, won the Little Patriot Award and the Jensen Pumpkin Festival’s float, Life is a Circus, was awarded Most Unique.
