The new POST law enforcement training in the Basin has certified its first graduating class. 11 cadets graduated from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy on Thursday at UBATC in Roosevelt.

Roosevelt City reported last week that their new fire truck is under construction at the manufacturer. Roosevelt City was awarded the funding for the new fire truck by the Community Impact Board in late 2015.

Federal Judge Challenges BLM EIS on Basin Oil and Gas Project

CIB Approves Funds on Basin Projects
The Community Impact Board approved funding for several Basin projects during their meeting on Thursday. The Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District requested funds for system upgrades including a water line in the Rockpoint area and new fire hydrants.
Missing Craig Teen Added to FBI Runaway List
A missing teenager from Craig has been added to the FBI’s endangered runaway list. 14-year-old Katrina Treacy was reported as missing over a month ago and it was determined that she had run away.
9-year-old Hit by Vehicle; Flown by Medical Helicopter to Wasatch Front Hospital
Tragedy struck over the weekend in Vernal when a 9-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle. According to Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell, Vernal PD and emergency personnel responded to a call of a traumatic injury at the Ashley Valley Apartments on 1320 West Main Street at approximately 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon.

Monument Roads Reopening Thanks to Repairs
Slow and steady, road crews are making progress on roads washed out from the heavy rains on September 22nd. Dinosaur National Monument alone had 5 large culverts washed out on the Island Park Road which has now reopened with restrictions.
