DWR Recommending New Hunts
The Division of Wildlife Resources plan to recommend new big game opportunities in 2017. Biologists plan to include additional management buck deer hunts and mountain goat hunts as well as more chances to hunt deer with muzzleloaders after the general rifle hunt is over.
Vernal Theatre: Live Building Memories; Auditions for A Christmas Carol
Audiences walked away understanding what it means to “bust a gut” during the opening weekend of Tumbleweeds at the Vernal Theatre: Live. The audience involved show is being considered a success with just three shows left this Thursday,Friday and Saturday. In the meantime, plans are already underway for the theatre’s next show, the classic tale of Scrooge’s transformation in A Christmas Carol.
Evan McMullin Makes Stop in Vernal
Presidential candidate Evan McMullin and his running mate Mindy Finn made a stop in the Basin on Friday night. It was a full house in the Vernal City Community Room as supporters, several opposers and many unsure voters gathered to hear McMullin make his case for President of the United States.

A Uintah County Sheriff’s deputy is under investigation for sexual misconduct. According to Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton, the allegations were made on August 27th while the deputy was off duty.
Manhunt for Duchesne County Murder Suspect Ends In Colorado
A Duchesne County man at large for two days for murder and kidnapping was captured in Colorado on Sunday. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old James Main, Jr. allegedly abducted two individuals at gunpoint from a home north of Roosevelt on Friday night around 7:00pm.

Several amendments to the Utah Constitution are included on the election ballot this year. Constitutional Amendment A proposes to make a technical wording change in the oath of office that elected and appointed officers are required to take.
