A Duchesne City couple is doing their part to spread Christmas cheer this year. Robin and Dewayne Calkins have always loved Christmas, with Robin admitting to be a straight up Hallmark Channel junkie. This year they’ve channeled their holly jolly enthusiasm into planning the 1st annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Festival to be held tomorrow at Wallace Park on Duchesne’s Main Street. “For a couple years I’ve wanted to do it but never had enough oomph,” shares Robin. “When I took over the light parade I said, okay, this has to happen.” The Calkins involved friends, family, volunteers, and donors from throughout the community to create what will be an amazing event with festivities, free hot chocolate and goodies, a special visit from Santa, and of course the Light Parade. “This year our community came together during a tragedy but we also need to all come together for fun things too,” says Robin. Festivities
start at 3pm
with the parade lineup
at 4pm
and the tree lighting
around 5:30pm
followed by the parade. All are encouraged to come enjoy time with friends and neighbors in launching the Christmas season.
