A challenge to complete 1,776 hours of service as a community before America’s 250th birthday on July 4th was accomplished and exceeded. UBTech President Aaron Weight issued the invitation to the community in March which was inspired by the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. “When we launched this challenge, I knew our community would embrace it,” shares Weight. “Reaching nearly 1,900 hours of service is a powerful reminder of who we are. The Uintah Basin has always been a place where people help one another, the 1,776 challenge highlighted this spirit in a remarkable way.” Participants logged hours from all corners of the TriCounty area in northeastern Utah. To celebrate this achievement and America’s 250th birthday, community members are invited to a free Uintah Basin in Celebration (UBIC) Pancake Breakfast on Friday, July 31, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the UBTech Roosevelt Campus. Breakfast will be prepared and served by UBTech Culinary Arts students and staff. The event is free to the public.
