An amazing spring continues for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra as they prep for a special performance this weekend. The organization launched last summer under the leadership of local musician and UBOC principal violist Brad VanFleet. The group’s second concert, performed last month at the Vernal Middle School, had the crowd on their feet as the young musicians nailed the difficult orchestra suites. “The concert was fun,” shares UBYCO violist Zachary Carleton. “There was a lot of energy in the air and it was nice to play for a crowd after working so hard.” The group’s excitement has now shifted to their debut performance on the stage with local professionals as the youth orchestra members will join the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus on stage for their concert this Saturday. The youth will join the UBOC orchestra for the Pirates of the Caribbean suite which is expected to be a real crowd pleaser. Tickets are available at
