Utah State University has been a champion for providing educational opportunities in the Uintah Basin and this week their Aviation team is providing an amazing opportunity for some local youth. Aggie Aviation Adventure camp is being held August 6th through the 8th in Vernal. “This is going to be a great opportunity for youth in our region to come and learn some great things about aviation from some great individuals,” shares Vernal Regional Airport Manager Doug Brown. “They will get to see many aspects of aviation and maybe help them find an opportunity for a future career.” The camp participants each gain an understanding of the process to become a pilot or aviation maintenance technician covering the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics involved in aviation. The interactive classes cover aviation topics ranging from weather, flight instruments, and air traffic control to a briefing of the USU Aviation Program. The Vernal camp includes a helicopter flight. The instructors head to Price next for aviation camp that includes a drone that participants will take home from the 9th to the 11th.
