A Salt Lake chapter of a national organization aimed at providing addiction recovery support services made a visit to the Duchesne County Jail last week hoping to help any interested inmates there. ‘Young People in Recovery’ was founded in 2010 by a group of young people ages 18 to 30 that were in recovery and wanted to help others. The program is designed for this age group but serves individuals of every age. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, the ‘Young People in Recovery’ group that visited the Duchesne County Jail on Saturday came with information on services and support available for those seeking treatment and long-term recovery from substance abuse. The YPR regional chapter coordinator, Justin Hughes, brings members of the group with him to visit jails once a month in order to make their presentation and invitation. “Everyone I affected with my addiction, now I affect with my recovery,” shares Hughes, who himself has served time in state and federal prison. Hughes is now earning a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. Learn more at
